The UK Jewish Film Festival returns to Manchester in 2024 with a selection of 8 international films hitting the screens of Cineworld, HOME and Vue, Bury in November.
Incorporating documentaries, dramas and shorts, it’s a festival with something for everyone!
Our Opening Gala, on the 7th November at Cineworld, features the odd-couple road-trip drama, A Real Pain, winner of the Screenwriting Award and nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival 2024. Starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin as two cousins who embark on a tour of Poland in honour of their beloved grandmother, and soon find themselves grappling with their family history and each other. The UK general release date for this film isn’t until early 2025, so this is a great chance to see the film ahead of the crowds!
On the 19th November we have an evening of award-winning short films showcasing the eclectic tapestry that is British-Jewish life. This screening, at HOME, also includes a pitching session for the chance to gain UKJFF funding and a networking event that is a must for local filmmakers. Our Closing Night Gala, at Home on the 20th November, features a screening of The Performance. Starring Jeremy Piven as the leader of a tap-dancing troupe who are invited to perform in Nazi Germany, The Performance is an energetic and stunningly shot reminder of the dangers of group-think and self-deception.
