Children visiting Manchester Central Library recently were joined by Lioness and former England captain Jill Scott for an afternoon of football-inspired fun, storytelling, and creative activities.

The free drop-in family event featured Jill Scott reading from her newly published book, Match Day Mix Up!, giving fans the chance to meet her and take home a complimentary copy.

Footy Fairy Tales, a lively theatre performance brought classic fairy tales to life through football, complete with original live music, songs and all the excitement of the stadium.

And young football fans got the chance to make their own medals with the National Football Museum and enjoy a range of colouring, crafts and football-themed activities throughout the day.

Families were also able to pick up a free copy of Match Day Mix-Up! to take home, alongside activity books and stickers, to keep the fun going beyond the event.

Councillor Annette Wright Deputy Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Libraries said:

"Half term can always be a challenge for families not just to find fun and exciting things to do with children, but the costs associated with activities to keep them busy.  This free fun event with partners at Manchester Central Library proved to be a real hit entertaining children and families who had the added bonus of meeting a legendary Lioness footballer – and receiving a free book to take away. "

British Gas teamed up with the Barclays Women's Super League to bring the Match Day Mix up! event to Manchester Central Library.
