Generous RECOM Volunteers Spread Festive Cheer with 100+ Hours of Support

Generous staff at RECOM Solutions have dedicated more than 100 hours to volunteering as part of the company’s first-ever Community Week.

Team members gave their time to support charities and community projects across Greater Manchester, as well as in Liverpool, Bradford, Birmingham, Bristol and Delamere in Cheshire – all locations where the company operates.

RECOM, which is based at Waters Edge Business Park in Salford Quays and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, undertakes project management consultancy, main contracting and passive fire protection work across the UK.

The Community Week initiatives involved employees from across the business and included:

• Litter picking in areas of Delamere Forest and the St Philip’s Marsh district of Bristol;
• Making sandwiches for 90 people distributed by the Greater Manchester charity Feed My City;
• Volunteering at the RSPCA charity shop in Manchester’s Northern Quarter;
• Collecting clothes for Barnabus, a charity which supports homeless people in Manchester;
• Collecting and delivering more than 160 toy gifts for Wood Street Mission, which helps struggling families in Manchester and Salford;
• Delivering food hampers to Bradford Central Foodbank;
• Organising a community walk at Sale Water Park to promote wellbeing.

In addition, a group of RECOM volunteers decorated the coffee shop at the Thrive Careers Hub in Liverpool. Thrive is a safe space for care-experienced young people to meet with the adults who care for them and to access specialist support for mental health and wellbeing, one-to-one advice on housing, finances and legal matters, and assistance to secure meaningful employment.

Sarah Leadbetter, head of RECOM’s passive fire protection division, said:

“Community Week at RECOM provided a chance for our team to step away from the day-to-day and focus on what social value really means to us.

“It was incredibly rewarding to see different parts of our business come together to make a positive impact, particularly at this time of year.

“We chose the run-up to Christmas as it’s a time when more individuals and families find themselves in need of extra help, and kind and practical actions of others can really have an impact.

“By supporting local projects and initiatives, we were able to give something meaningful back to the communities where we operate across the country, helping to make a tangible difference for the people who live and work there.

“Moments like these remind us why contributing to the wellbeing and resilience of our communities is so important, and reinforce our ongoing commitment to creating social value through the projects we deliver.”

Amy Henderson, relationship manager at Thrive, said:

“The support of the RECOM team by offering to paint and refresh the hub has helped us ensure the space remains welcoming and inspiring for anyone who walks through our doors and needs our support in finding their dream job and building their future.”

Kathryn Tighe, fundraising lead at Wood Street Mission, said:

“The support from RECOM for the Wood Street Mission Christmas Appeal will help to make Christmas morning special for children in Manchester and Salford living in low-income families, ensuring they have gifts and will have a story to tell their friends when they go back to school. We couldn’t do this without the valuable support of local businesses like RECOM.”
