A Manchester couple has launched a new floristry studio where customers choose arrangements by colour palette rather than by flower variety.
Puffs & Petals was founded by partners Nathan and Toby, who have created a collection of arrangements inspired by paint shades, popular culture and queer history.
Instead of selecting particular flowers, customers choose from named colour palettes such as Villain Era, The Peopleβs Princess, DiscothΓ¨que and Golden Hour. Florists then create an arrangement around the selected colours, with each design presented in a reusable tin.
The Manchester-based business will make its first in-person appearance at the Makers Market at First Street on Saturday, 15 August.
Nathan and Toby, who are also engaged, said the idea grew from their shared interest in creative work and a desire to establish a business together.
The pair trained through the Joseph Massie School of Floristry before developing the colour-led concept.
They said: βWe wanted to build something of our own. Something to share, something beautiful and something that grabbed you by the collar.β
The studio aims to offer an alternative to traditional floristry by focusing on mood, colour and personal expression rather than standard bouquets or individual flower types.
Each palette is accompanied by its own name and story, although customers can also select an arrangement simply because they like the colour.
The founders added: βWe donβt sell flowers. We sell colour, mood, joy, creativity and personality.β
Puffs & Petals describes itself as a proudly queer-owned Manchester business.
