Manchester Families Reminded of Crisis and Resilience Fund Support

As thousands of families prepare to get the kids back to school this autumn, we know this time of year can be a pinch point for many.

From rising costs, new school supplies, or simply unexpected bills it doesn’t take a lot for a family's finances to be rocked.

That is why Manchester City Council is working to get the word out about the Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF).

The CRF is a government-backed scheme that provides short-term emergency support for people in Manchester. It can provide immediate short term financial assistance for people who have no other way of paying for essentials.

Because of the nature of this support, it is intended for people who are already living on a low income.

We understand how difficult a sudden financial stress can be which is why any money given through the CRF:

• Does not need to be paid back

• Won’t have any effect on benefits you currently receive

• Only takes a few minutes to apply for

When applying all that we’ll need are your personal details, your National Insurance number and any detail of benefits you receive, if applicable.

Any payment made will be either a voucher or a direct bank payment.

Councillor Tracey Rawlins, Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council, said: “Since the onset of the cost-of-living crisis the Council has invested millions of pounds into supporting residents across Manchester.

“With people finding it hard to pay for even the basic essentials we knew that it was essential we put in place a support network that would prevent people falling deeper into poverty.

“The CRF can and will be a lifeline for those who find themselves in a sudden financial crisis, and I’d urge anyone who is worried about making ends meet to get in touch with us as soon as they can.”
