Manchester Padel Players Get a Taste of Elite Recovery Technology at PEMFiT Performance Event

Thirty padel players descended on Pure Padel Manchester recently for a unique sporting event that combined on-court competition with a growing trend from the world of elite sport: recovery-focused performance technology.

Hosted by PEMFiT and supported by Optimal Hydration, Pulse PEMF, and AIXO, the PEMFiT Padel & Performance event saw players compete in a three-hour Mexicano tournament while also experiencing pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) sessions before, during, and after matches.

The event reflected a growing shift in the way athletes think about performance, with recovery increasingly viewed as an essential part of staying active and competitive, rather than simply something that happens after exercise.

Padel, widely recognised as one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, has seen explosive growth across the country in recent years. According to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), more than 400,000 people played padel in Great Britain during 2024, up from just 15,000 in 2019 as clubs and courts continue to open nationwide.

Many of today’s padel enthusiasts also lead highly active lifestyles, often combining the sport with gym training, running, cycling, and other fitness pursuits. As participation increases, so too does interest in the tools and habits that help players stay consistent and continue performing at their best.

The growing focus on recovery mirrors trends seen at the highest levels of professional sport. Recent reports from the US Open highlighted how professional athletes are increasingly incorporating advanced recovery technologies into their routines, relying on everything from red-light therapy to PEMF as part of their strategies for supporting physical readiness throughout demanding competition schedules.

While these approaches were once largely associated with elite athletes, events such as PEMFiT Padel & Performance are helping introduce them to recreational sports communities. During the Manchester event, participants were able to experience sessions on the PEMFiT PEMF Chair throughout the tournament, allowing them to explore recovery technology in a live sporting environment.

PEMF technology has been used in medical and rehabilitation settings for decades and is attracting interest from athletes looking to support their body’s natural recovery processes. While it’s not a replacement for recovery fundamentals such as sleep, hydration, and nutrition, many athletes are exploring PEMF as part of a broader approach to maintaining wellbeing and managing the demands of regular training and competition.

For PEMFiT, bringing the technology into a community sporting setting was about making recovery part of the conversation for everyday athletes, not just professionals.

As sports such as padel continue to grow across Greater Manchester and the UK, organisers believe recovery will become an increasingly important consideration for players looking to balance active lifestyles with long-term performance and enjoyment of the game.

The success of the event suggests that, for many modern athletes, the future of sport isn’t just about training harder; it’s also about recovering well, staying consistent, and continuing to show up week after week.
