Manchester-based haircare and wellness brand GLOWWA has successfully raised an incredible £40,000 for the cancer hair loss charity Hair Reborn, after completing an epic walking challenge through the Lake District.
On Monday 18th May, 94 walkers, including the GLOWWA team, freelance hairdressers, salon groups including Hari’s, Russell Eaton and Sean Hanna, alongside GLOWWA ambassadors Sarah Louise Keane and Alan Beak, gathered in Great Langdale at 6:30am where they chose from routes spanning either five or ten peaks, giving as many people as possible the opportunity to take part.
They set off in difficult conditions, facing torrential rain, heavy fog and extremely low visibility, before the weather cleared later in the afternoon. Despite the demanding terrain and unpredictable weather, all the walkers completed the challenge before celebrating together in the evening with pizzas, drinks and a well-earned sense of achievement.
GLOWWA is a hair wellness company, founded in Manchester by nutritional therapist Suzanne Cooper. The award-winning brand focuses on ‘inside-out’ hair health through science-led nutritional supplements designed to support stronger, healthier hair and reduce shedding.
For GLOWWA, the challenge was about more than reaching the summit. It was about raising vital funds and awareness for a vital charity.

David Penney, UK & International Commercial Manager for GLOWWA, says,
“What makes these challenges so special is that they genuinely bring the hair community together for an incredible cause close to our hearts. There’s nothing to sell, no hidden agenda, it’s simply about like-minded people walking, talking, connecting and doing good.
“The fundraising itself has been unbelievable, but what’s been even more powerful is the conversations, support and education that have happened because of it. So many salons and hairdressers still feel nervous about working with hair affected by chemotherapy treatment. Hair Reborn is doing such important work in giving professionals the confidence and education to ensure no client ever feels turned away during one of the most difficult periods of their life.”
Hair Reborn is a UK-based cancer hair loss charity that supports people experiencing hair loss as a result of chemotherapy treatment. Founded by husband-and-wife team Joe Milazzo and Lina Milazzo, the charity combines emotional support with practical haircare services to help people regain confidence during and after cancer treatment.
Hair Reborn also provides education to salons on medical hair loss and post-chemotherapy hair changes, helping professionals feel more confident supporting clients through every stage of their hair journey. As a result of the fundraising, some of the walkers have decided to work more closely with Hair Reborn and its salon programme, offering complimentary salon appointments for those experiencing temporary hair loss following chemotherapy treatment.
David added,
“I’m honestly just so proud and chuffed with everyone involved. Both routes were incredibly tough, especially with the weather conditions early on, but the atmosphere and community spirit throughout the day was amazing.
“We already know this won’t be the last challenge. We haven’t decided what 2027 looks like yet, but there will definitely be another big GLOWWA community moment on the horizon.”
