Charming Curiosities: The Story Behind ‘The Bim-Bam Boozle Bird’ and Its Talented Manchester-Born Team

Published:

[DIDSBURY, MANCHESTER. 22 January 2024] A Manchester-born family has launched their first children’s picture book, The Bim-Bam Boozle Bird.

Author, Eileen Morrison, and graphic designer and illustrator, Tommy Morrison have created a quirky character sure to peak the curiosity of toddlers and young children. The Bim-Bam Boozle Bird is perfect for reading aloud with its rhyming text and whimsical story, each page boldly illustrated.

Inspired by listening to her grandfather’s made-up rhymes and funny words, Eileen put pen to paper to create her own poem – a rare, exotic bird that flies and sleeps upside-down, surrounded by wild nature.

“I really enjoyed creating the book and would be delighted if children fell in love with the Bim-Bam Boozle bird like I did as soon as I saw Tommy’s illustrations. It was like being little again, inside my own book. Working with my son has been a pleasure and he’s been amazing at interpreting my ideas.”

Eileen, a former teacher

Eileen lives in Didsbury with her husband. Her son, Tommy, now lives in Birmingham.

“I’m excited to get the book out into the world and I hope that children enjoy the character. I was inspired by my mum’s poems and it’s been great to collaborate on the book together.”

The mother and son duo are continuing to create more stories together.

The Bim-Bam Boozle Bird is now available at Giddy Goat Toys, Albert Hill Street, Didsbury or UK-wide at www.giddygoattoys.co.uk.
