Greater Manchester Improv Festival Welcomes US Comedy Duo Landry & Summers

“Here we are in England. Close to the summertime. Close to the improv” says Shaun Landry, actor, improviser, and teacher from Chicago.

“And, we are excited to be coming to Manchester!”

Shaun Landry and Hans Summers are the improv and sketch duo of Landry & Summers. Improvising since 1986 and married on Valentine’s Day 1991, Shaun and Hans have been internationally performing and teaching improvisational theatre for over forty years. Shaun is always pleased to come back to England, as she was the Curator of The 2025 Robinhood Improv Festival in Nottingham, England, and has taught improvisational master classes in London.

Vermont Avenue, an Improvised Billy Wider Sunset Blvd takes you back to the early sixties with this improvised Billy Wilder’s Sunset Blvd. A hilarious and dark show seen at The Robinhood Improv Festival and The Manila Improv Festival.

“Yes, Shaun has an Edith Head dress,” chuckles Summers.

“It was nice living in Hollywood. Hand me down costumes,” retorts Landry, as both lived in California for twenty-five years before moving home to Chicago in 2025 to teach and perform.

“It’s my favorite improvised format that we do. Deep, fun, silly, and the way a lot of Wilder’s films are. It’s a parody homage,” says sixty-year-old Landry.

This show is part of the Greater Manchester Improv Festival (GMIF) 5th-7th June 2026. From up and coming acts to award-winning shows, the festival showcases local talent and visiting shows like Landry & Summers.

For the 2026 festival there are 20 shows and 4 workshops, with tickets for all shows just £5.

“We are chuffed, gobsmacked, and all the wonderful English colloquialisms. I really highly recommend seeing all the shows at the festival. Because gosh, support the local comedy and improv scene.” Smiles Landry.
