Celebrate Local Heroes: Nominations Open for Manchester’s Be Proud Awards

Published:

Residents of Manchester now have the opportunity to honour the often-overlooked heroes in their communities by submitting nominations for the prestigious Be Proud Awards, an annual event.

Each year Manchester City Council hosts an awards ceremony to celebrate local community groups, individuals and businesses that make a difference to the city.

The Be Proud Awards are a chance for community champions, and extraordinary volunteer groups, to have their work recognised during a night of glitz and glamour.

All finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony and gala dinner that is due to take place at the Mercure Hotel in March 2024.

Awards are available in the following categories:

  • Taking Neighbourhood Climate Action
  • Helping Tackle Poverty
  • Increasing Skills and Employment Choices
  • Creating Safer Neighbourhoods
  • Supporting Health and Wellbeing
  • Promoting Equality and Diversity
  • Creating Greener and Cleaner Neighbourhoods
  • Creativity in Neighbourhoods
  • Business in the Community

“The Be Proud Awards are a special time for the Council and people across the city as we come together and celebrate the important contribution that local heroes and community groups make to Manchester.

“Local neighbourhood groups are the backbone of our city and without them, Manchester would not be the great city we are. The Be Proud awards give us an opportunity to recognise those who go above and beyond for the community.

“If you know an inspirational group or a person that deserves to be recognised for all of their hard work, I’d urge you to nominate them for Be Proud Award.”

Councillor Lee-Ann Igbon, Executive Member for Vibrant Neighbourhoods
